Впервые показавшйся на горизонте в феврале нынешнего года Manhunt 2 уже негативно подействовал на знаменитого Джека Томпсона, который тут же решил запретить продажи этой игры, так и не разобравшись о чем она. Подробная информация о новом проекте поступила буквально на днях. О ней-то я сейчас и вам и расскажу.

Впервые информация об игре всплыла в онлайновом магазине GameStop, который разместил на своих страницах описание Manhunt 2. Надо полагать, что информация эта поступила к ним прямиком от самих разработчиков. В самом деле, не станет же GameStop вписывать в поле описания что попало.

Но вернемся к нашей теме. Первая часть игры не имеет с Manhunt 2 абсолютно ничего общего, кроме схожей концепции и атмосферы. На некой секретной исследовательской лаборатории проводился важный эксперимент, который оказался неудачным. О негативных последствиях знают лишь два человека Дэниел Ламб (Daniel Lamb) и Лео Каспер (Leo Kasper), которые, собственно и остались в живых после того, как все пошло наперекосяк. Теперь организаторы эксперимента сделают все, чтобы заставить молчать этих двух несчастных.

Шесть лет спустя вы открываете глаза и обнаруживаете, что находитесь в психиатрической лечебнице. Придя в себя, вы видите тело санитара, которое медленно сползает с ваших рук на холодный пол. Кровавый шприц скатывается по вашей руке. Вы ничего не понимаете и ничего не помните. Но через мгновенье видите, что дверка-то в вашу палату открыта. Теперь у вас есть шанс выбраться отсюда, где вы провели долгих шесть лет заточения. Они забрали у вас вашу жизнь, и теперь самое время, чтобы вернуть ее назад.

Релиз игры запланирован на 19 июня нынешнего года. Ключевые платформы - Wii, PlayStation 2 и PSP. Кстати, с новыми подробностями нам подкинули и официальный арт коробки с игрой. Вот он:

#51 m000rfik, Mafia 2 se va arata la GC in Leipzig, aceasta a anuntzat USK(ESRB din Germania), care probabil a stabilit ratingul jocului.

Crossfire renamed Conflict: Denied Ops

Last September, Eidos Interactive teased a new shooter titled Crossfire for the PC, Xbox 360, and Playstation 3 which would focus on two-person co-operative gameplay. Now, the game has been redubbed Conflict: Denied Ops and rebranded as an offshoot of the long-running war series from Eidos parent company SCi Entertainment. Developed by Pivotal Games, it is due out next year.

Epic lands controlling stake in People Can Fly

Polish studio People Can Fly has a new air traffic controller, as Epic Games today announced that it has acquired a majority stake in the Painkiller developer.

The two companies began working together last year when People Can Fly approached the makers of Gears of War and Unreal Tournament 3 to evaluate the Unreal Engine 3 for a multiplatform title.

Since then, People Can Fly has worked on the PC version of Gears of War and is currently helping Epic design an all-new, unnamed intellectual property. Epic president Dr. Michael Capps explained that the 50-person studio's impressive contributions prompted the company's investment. "Working with this team of guys who love making over-the-top shooters was a blast, and we didn't want it to end," the executive said. "And their work was outstanding. The multiplayer levels they created for Gears PC look as good or better than the original."

For the studio's part, People Can Fly co-owner Adrian Chmielarz said working with Epic will alleviate some of the stress that goes along with being an independent developer, allowing his team to focus on making games. To date, People Can Fly has released the original Painkiller, the expansion pack Battle Out of Hell, and the Xbox spin-off Painkiller: Hell Wars. PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 2 installments of Painkiller were also announced in 2006. However, with no updates on either version since mid-2006, their current status is unclear.

People Can Fly's current project--the jointly developed intellectual property with Epic--is set to be shopped around to publishers this week at the Leipzig Games Convention.

Last year, THQ and People Can Fly joined up to work on a new intellectual property. However, that title was reportedly canceled earlier this year.

2K Games informs on Mafia 2
Illusion Softworks developing follow-up to 2002 open-world mobster game for "next-gen consoles" and PC.

A week before this year's BlizzCon, the German game ratings board stole Blizzard's thunder by prematurely leaking the name of the next World of Warcraft expansion by way of a product listing. Last week, the body committed the same foul when it rated a promotional trailer for the follow-up to Illusion Softworks' mob-action game Mafia. The news came shortly after the Czech-based developer announced it had begun work on a new, top-secret IP for Japan-based D3Publisher.

Today, Take-Two Interactive confirmed that Illusion is indeed developing Mafia 2, which will be published under the 2K Games label. While details remain slim, Take-Two said that the game will feature open-world gameplay similar to its predecessor. Players will attempt to earn their keep in the company of a late 1940s-early 1950s crime syndicate, much like Electronic Arts' recent game adaptation of The Godfather.

Mafia 2 is being developed for "next-generation consoles" and the PC. No release or ratings information is yet available.

Another week, another NPD chart detailing the best selling PC games in the USA for the week ending August 11. The dominancle of World of Warcraft and The Sims 2 still continues with no title which could replace the first positions. Let’s wait for a newer chart with Bioshock in stores, it could move the positions a bit.

Electronic Arts официально подтвердила, что релизу долгожданного боевика Crysis будет предшествовать выпуск демоверсии. Более того, "электроники" назвали дату появления демки. Попробовать Crysis мы сможем уже 25 сентября.

В состав демоверсии войдет первый уровень из сюжетной кампании под названием Contact. Кроме того, разработчики из Crytek обещают включить в демку некий сюрприз, который сильно порадует всех поклонников Crysis.
