Sir Sean Connery and Sir Alex Ferguson gatecrashed Andy Murray's press conference following his semi-final win in the US Open to tell the room full of reporters Scotland 'invented the world'.

The pair, along with Murray’s mum Judy, interrupted the British number one’s press conference in New York and had an hilarious exchange in front of reporters.
Connery had been watching Murray beat Tomas Berdych 5-7, 6-2, 6-1, 7-6 to reach the final of the US Open for a second time and strolled into the post-match interview for what was no more than brief chat where Ferguson boasted about the dominance of Scots.
The bizarre but amusing chat started by Connery introducing Ferguson and Judy to join him at the front of the room.
'Excuse me for interrupting,’ said the former 007 actor.
‘But I just wanted to make a point, where’s Alex?
‘I don’t know where your mother is, ah there she it.’

A bemused Murray got up to greet them before attempting to try and follow the flow of the bizarre situation.
‘Are you going to be around tomorrow,’ asked Murray but had no response from Connery, who was too busy trying to get Judy up on stage.
‘Come on Judy, Judy, Judy, Judy.’
When Judy finally got to the stage Murray claimed he could tell his mum had been drinking, with the British Federation Cup captain instantly attributing the blame on Ferguson.
‘You smell of wine,’ said the 25-year-old to his mum.
‘He [nodding at Ferguson] made me have wine, he’s just been telling me that Scotland invented the world,’ replied Judy.
Murray will have to wait and see if he will play either Novak Djokovic or David Ferrer in the US Open final tomorrow after Flushing Meadows was hit by heavy winds forcing a delayed final for the fifth year in a row.
‘I’ve been coming here the last three years to New York, and I explained how Scotland invented the world; today we invented the wind,’ said Ferguson.
Connery then replied: ‘Today they conquered the world!’ to which Ferguson reacted: ‘Very good, fantastic.’
Murray was clearly baffled by what was going on and tried to wrap the weird exchange up.
‘See you after the match tomorrow,’ he said as he made his way back to his chair to face the media.
But Ferguson made sure he had the final word as he took the opportunity to have a swipe at the press, he said: ‘Continue your interview … You know I don't talk to journalists.’
Connery who is a big fan of tennis and is usually at Wimbledon then stayed around to have a chat with Murray after.
