My interpretation of the Black Market faction after the downfall is based on what happened to the world.
Such a large part of humanity kicked the bucket that even organized crime and illegal factions took a hit. In this new and dangerous world, the Black Market had to invest more into its safety.

Therefore the Market uses 2 main types of guards/soldiers. The experienced soldiers and Special Forces (guy on the right) units became quite important as the traders want some real protection, equipping themselves with good weapons and armour and some specialized equipment (like the tactical scanner from CoP).

Still, sometimes they are not enough so the Black Market has to recruit local scavengers to use as soldiers. This is why some of the Scavengers do join the Black Market in order to receive a decent enough pay and work as guards (The guy on the left is a such).

The traders don’t have a strict dress code, though I wanted to make mine look somewhat badass. Turned out scary, but still.
I understand that Survarium is a world with a dynamic environment which means no place is safe all the time. This has made me believe that Black Market stores are somewhat mobile and quick enough to pack if need be, though they are probably well positioned on known spots.

Weapons and equipment: The Black Market has access to a relatively large amount of high quality weapons from all over the world. Their stocks, although not absurdly big (even when compared to the new society) are enough for trading. They probably still have access to most of their depots, though in certain regions some weapons are easier to find (e.g Chinese weapons in Asia and so on). Older weapons like the Mosin Nagant or the STG 44 are also in available, but are not usually handed to the elite Special Forces guards and are used for trading or equipping the less trustworthy new traders or guards.

The Faction does not really partake in any real war with other factions. They just protects themselves and may kill bandits that threaten em whilst doing their best to also act as one of the few and most organized markets in the world. They usually try not to send their own guys to gather artifacts and other equipment, but they can if they must.

Investments are sometimes made with researchers if it may prove to aid them in the future (artifact scanner research for an example). Their ultimate goal is to survive in this new world.

I also believe that this interpretation of the Black Market is quite good, because after the relatively low tech faction of the Scavengers we get the richer but less numerous Black Market with better equipment.
