Manchester City Football Club is an English Premier League football club who play at the City of Manchester Stadium.

The first known competitive fixture was played in November 1880, when the side was known as St. Mark's (West Gorton), they then became Ardwick Association Football Club in 1887 before changing their name to Manchester City Football Club in 1894. The club's most successful period was in the late 1960s and early 1970s when they won the League Championship, the FA Cup, the League Cup and European Cup Winners' Cup under the management team of Joe Mercer and Malcolm Allison and with players including Colin Bell, Mike Summerbee and Francis Lee.

Since winning the League Cup in 1976, the club has failed to win any major honours. The club's decline led to relegation twice in three years in the 1990s, spending the 1998–99 season in the third tier of English football. The club has since regained top flight status, the level at which they have spent the majority of their history.

Paraguayanul Oscar Cardozo are 27 de ani, 1.94 m inaltime, joaca la Benfica si in acest sezon a fost golgeterul Europa League cu 9 reusite.

Oscar Cardozo a fost la egalitate cu atacantul peruan de la Werder Bremen, Claudio Pizarro in clasamnetul golgeterilor Europa League din acest sezon.

Manchester City este echipa la care ar putea ajunge din vara Oscar Cardozo. Roberto Mancini il vrea neaparat la echipa pe golgeterul Benficai.

«Манчестер Сити» расстается с полузащитником Мартином Петровым, защитником Силвиньо и форвардом Бенжани. Клуб решил не предлагать вышеперечисленным футболистам новые контракты.

В прошедшем сезоне эти игроки редко появлялись на поле, и их уход был ожидаем.

Мартин Петров пришел в «Сити» в 2007 году из мадридского «Атлетико». В Англию его пригласил бывший рулевой «горожан» швед Свен-Йоран Эрикссон. Дебютный сезон в английской Премьер-лиге у болгарина получился удачным, а вот затем Петрова стали преследовать травмы. В итоге Мартин за время пребывания в стане «Манчестер Сити» лишь 57 раз выходил в основном составе, забив при этом 15 голов.

Бенжани также был приобретен по просьбе шведского наставника в январе 2008, которому нападающий приглянулся по игре за «Портсмут». Дебютный матч за новую команду Бенжани провел блестяще, забив победный гол в ворота «Манчестер Юнайтед», однако этим и ограничился. Концовку прошлого сезона он провел в «Сандерленде», где за 8 игр не забил ни одного мяча.

Судьба бразильского защитника Силвиньо, перешедшего прошлым летом из «Барселоны», не менее трагична – лишь 9 встреч в основе. Правда, здесь все можно списать на возраст, ведь триумфатору Лиги чемпионов-2008/09 уже 36 лет.

Now that Roberto Mancini knows the order of play, he can step up his efforts to enhance City's Barclays Premier League challenge - and the Press game now is to try to keep up.

The Guardian's Danny Taylor might be beavering away at the World Cup, but he still found time during Spain's shock defeat by Switzerland to check out the latest Spanish whispers.

Danny reckons that "David Silva has had a change of mind about moving to England and is deliberating whether to choose Manchester City or Chelsea amid firm interest from both."

He recalls that previously the midfielder's reluctance to leave Spain was "unflinching", but says that the Valencia star has come round to the idea of playing in the Premier League.

Silva's camp have now "informed Valencia he would like a transfer," says the Guardian man. The Telegraph's Jason Burt runs a similar tale that City have lodged a bid that "may prove decisive".

The Mail meanwhile concentrates on the future of Germany midfielder Mesut Ozil, so impressive against Australia at the World Cup and thought to be a target for a clutch of England's top clubs.

Mailman Simon Jones writes that "Chelsea are ready to rival Arsenal and Manchester City" for the 21-year-old, having followed his progress since he joined Schalke two years ago.

The column also notes that Nedum Onuoha remains firmly on Sunderland's summer shopping list along with England World Cup defender Matthew Upson.
