RIM (well, BlackBerry now) has opened a new chapter in the history of its platform with the release of its first to BB10 OS devices, the BlackBerry Z10 and Q10.The new OS is centered around touch gestures, even the Q10, which has a hardware QWERTY.
The BlackBerry Z10, however, joins the ranks of the touch-only army with a 4.2” WXGA screen (1,280 x 768, 356ppi pixel density). A dual-core Krait CPU at 1.5GHz has been enlisted to run the new OS and there’s 2 gigs of RAM to make sure there’s room for multitasking, which plays a huge part of the new experience.
The company also made sure the Z10 is capable in terms of multimedia with an 8MP main camera that has TimeShift (Scalado-powered tech) and shoots 1080p video and an HDMI port. The phone packs 16GB of storage and you can throw in a microSD card (up to 32GB) to expand it.
On the connectivity side, there's LTE (market dependent), Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC.
The Z10 boasts an advanced touchscreen keyboard, which should completely make up for the lack of hardware keyboard.

While people are still struggling to get their hands on the current, black Nexus 4, it seems LG is secretly working on a white version of the device.  There are some minor changes, including a chrome surround for the LED flash, instead of the black finish on the black model. Also, the pattern underneath the glass is slightly different on the white model, as seen in the second image. It remains to be seen if the front is all white (hopefully) or completely black the way it was on the white Galaxy Nexus. Also, if any of this is actually real. We hope it is and that LG manages to put it in production and not make just 10 of them.

We all knew this was eventually coming, but it's now official. Symbian on Nokia is dead.
Nokia managed to send off the once might platform in style. The 808 PureView will go down in history as the last Symbian device by the Finnish manufacturer.
Nokia announced the news alongside its great Q4 results today, which showed $585 million profit and $10.83 billion in revenue.
During our transition to Windows Phone through 2012, we continued to ship devices based on Symbian. The Nokia 808 PureView, a device which showcases our imaging capabilities and which came to market in mid-2012, was the last Symbian device from Nokia.
Symbian OS on Nokia devices has played a key part in the smartphone game over the past ten years, but its significance was severely reduced once the touchscreen revolution started. Some of the most notable phones to come out of Nokia were powered by Symbian - beginning with the 9210 Communicator. The Nokia E61 started a messenger phone hype that peaked with the E71, making Symbian OS the only viable competitor to the then-strong BlackBerry portfolio of messengers.
Then came the cameraphone era, which gave birth to devices like the Nokia N95, which was widely regarded as the king of the smartphone hill in its day. The Nokia N8 came at a time when Symbian was rapidly sliding into irrelevancy but still made a huge splash among camera-lovers with its large sensor and superb image quality. Heck we loved snapping photos with it and it's still the most popular smartphone in our database with over 25 million hits.
Nokia began a shift towards Windows Phone in the beginning of 2011 and starting now Redmond's mobile OS is Nokia's only smartphone platform.

The latest iteration of the BlackBerry OS has been in the works for over two years before it went official earlier today. With dropping market share and countless unexciting QWERTY devices in recent years, the pressure was on for BlackBerry to provide a capable smartphone experience that will get them back in the game.
Now, direct from the BlackBerry 10 launch event, we've summarized all of the key features of the new OS, so you can see just what the formerly known as RIM company managed to cook up. The biggest highlight is BlackBerry Flow, which the company hailed as featuring true multitasking, where your opened apps can run simultaneously and you get seamless transition between them. BlackBerry Peek allows you to drag the Hub in from the sides of the screen, so you can see what runs in the background, while the currently open app continues to run.
Contacts feature full BBM integration (for other BB10 users), and all sorts of social networking features. The BlackBerry Hub represents the core of BB10, and has been redesigned to feature deep social integration, including Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. It acts as a central location from where you can quickly switch between your active applications, contacts, and others. The keyboard is BlackBerry's attempt at extreme optimization of the smartphone messaging experience, and it features some very nifty tricks such as the ability to "flick" words that show up on the keypad for quicker typing. You can also swipe left anywhere to delete the most recent word entered, while missed spaces are entered automatically. There's also seamless Multi-language support.
By swiping upwards on a homescreen, BlackBerry Balance allows users to quickly move between different user environments, such as one for work and one for leisure.
There are apps designed specifically for each environment, such as an app store specifically for business applications, and one for home. Opened business applications are denoted by a small briefcase icon in BlackBerry Hub. BlackBerry Messenger has been upgraded to offer video calls and BBM Screenshare. The latter allows you to share either the phone's screen or what's shot by the primary camera, during the video call.
The BlackBerry camera features Timeshift, which allows you to take several photos and combine the best elements from each of them, similar to Nokia's Smart Shoot lens with Scalado technology. There's also an integrated picture editor that lets you apply photo effects, and a Story Maker which lets you make a collage by combining multiple photos, video clips and music tracks. You just insert the multimedia content and the app will automatically compose a video clip complete with soundtrack.Unfortunately, BlackBerry did not get into specifics regarding the browsing experience provided by BlackBerry 10 (although Alicia Keys was pretty psyched about it). What we do know is the BlackBerry 10 browser scored some truly impressive marks at the html5test.com, while still in beta.

Nokia's 41-megapixel sensor, which was showcased for the first time at MWC 2012, bought a whole new dimension to the cameraphone game. After its recent success with the 808 PureView, Nokia will be bringing its class-leading 41-megapixel sensor to its Lumia lineup.
New reports from The Guardian back up previous rumors that the 41-megapixel Lumia device will be dubbed EOS, and the smartphone is expected to launch in the summer in the US. Unfortunately, there are no confirmations on the specifications of the device yet. The Lumia EOS is expected to capture images with about 5 megapixel resolution, using oversampling, just like the 808 PureView did in its default Auto mode. The latest Nokia Lumia 920 comes out with a floating lens technology, which is actual optical image stabilization - a first for a smartphone.
Combining the two technologies could result in a smartphone too tempting for cameraphone lovers to resist, regardless of their opinion on WP8.

Samsung has announced two new Android smartphones aimed at the lower end of the smartphone market. Called the Galaxy Young and the Galaxy Fame, neither of these phones are going to set benchmark tests on fire but then again, they aren't meant to. The Galaxy Young has a 3.27-inch, 480 x 320 resolution LCD, 1GHz processor, 768MB of RAM, 4GB internal memory with microSD card slot, 3 megapixel fixed focus camera, VGA video recording at 24fps, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi, A-GPS, digital compass, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and a 1,300mAh battery. The Galaxy Fame has similar specs but a slightly bigger 3.5-inch display of the same resolution, 5 megapixel rear camera with auto-focus, VGA front facing camera, 512MB of RAM (yes, it's less for some reason) and optional NFC. Both devices will offer an option of a dual-SIM model depending upon the region. No word yet on the pricing and availability of both the handsets.
