Nu, nu e vorba de un joc оn care să ghicim spre ce sfвrşit apocaliptic se оndreaptă omenirea, sau cвnd vor оnceta EA să mai mulgă seria lor Need for Speed cu jocuri ieftine de curse (deşi profeţia zice că NFS: Pro Street ar putea fi alesul). Оn schimb, noul joc anunţat de Microids (mai nou MC2, după fuziunea lor cu Wanadoo) va fi un titlu tradiţional de aventură, numit Nostradamus: The Last Prophecy. E dezvoltat de Kheops Studio, TOTM Studio şi Mzone Studio, fiind produs de un grup şi mai mare de companii printre care se numără şi producătorul francez Elektrogames.

Ca idee, cele mai recente aventuri create de Kheops au fost Safecracker şi The Secrets of Da Vinci: The Forbidden Manuscript. Din acestea ai putea să-ţi faci o idee la ce să te aştepţi din partea lui Nostradamus, sau dacă nu le-ai jucat, poţi vedea primele cвteva screenshot-uri. Le găseşti acum оn galeria locală, iar din ce prezice MC2, jocul final ar trebui să apară оn trimestrul trei din 2007.

Acum că am scăpat de chestiile tehnice, iată cвte ceva despre jocul propriu zis. Nostradamus: The Last Prophecy e plasat оn Provence prin secolul al 16-lea, оntr-o ţară răvăşită de războaie religioase şi devastată de molimă. Oarecum ciudat, jucătorul nu va lua оn primire rolul marelui profet, ci pe cel al fiicei sale, Madeleine, care trebuie să se dea drept astrolog şi doctor, trimis оn ajutorul (fostei) regine - Catherine de Medicis. Pentru a fi acceptată, оnsă, Madeleine trebuie să se deghizeze ca fiind fratele ei mai mic, Cesar, aşa оncвt stilul de joc (şi modul оn care va interacţiona cu alte personaje) va alterna оntre "tвnăra Madeleine" şi "Madeleine deghizată drept Cezar".

Aşadar, Nostradamus promite să fie o aventură istorică incitantă, plină de uneltiri politice şi profeţii străvechi, cu tot suspansul aferent unui roman detectiv: de la o crimă la alta, jucătorii оşi vor croi drum printr-o investigaţie presărată cu puzzle-uri inspirate de lucrările lui Nostradamus, ce оi vor purta prin lumea astrologiei, medicinei şi plantelor medicinale. Fascinant.

The PC Games of Fall 2007

If you're not already worn out from the massive joys of recent games like Bioshock or World in Conflict, odds are you're already looking forward to the great titles coming out for the holidays. Publishers are banking a lot on this holiday season with the release of several remarkable titles. True to form, many of these games were expected to ship earlier this year but have been held back for further development. But since that makes the field a little more crowded, we're here to help you sort out the titles that are worth considering when making your Christmas lists.

As always the PC catalog is dominated by shooter and strategy games, but we've also added in a few RPGs and a couple of offerings from some other genres as well. Some titles allow us to revisit much loved franchises and take on new experiences in familiar worlds. Other titles are unexpected ports from the console world that give PC gamers a taste of titles that we don't normally get.

Read the list carefully. Most of these games are coming out over the course of a few weeks so those of you who don't have a thousand bucks to blow on gifts for yourself will have to plan carefully to make sure you don't miss out on your favorite games. Here's a tip: You can cut the list in half if you just rule out all the games that involve humanity fighting against an alien invasion.

What to Expect: Gamers are getting more and more used to the idea of games that have multiple story paths and offer up intriguing squad-based combat. Both ideas are taken to new level in this upcoming shooter based around an alien invasion centered around the US government's infamous Area 51. The player leads a group of super secret soldiers, each of whom possesses unique skills and abilities in an assault on a wide variety of aliens and mutants. The player's choices in the game allow for a lot of moral flexibility as you determine whether to follow your orders or your ethics. But even if you're not a fan of moral relativism, you'll still dig the destructible environments and house-sized bosses here.

Brothers in Arms: Hells's Highway

What to Expect: It's been a while since we've seen what Matt Baker, Joe Hartsock, and the rest of the Screaming Eagles are up to in their drive to defeat Hitler's Germany. This third installment of Gearbox's award-winning Brothers in Arms franchise takes the 101st to Market-Garden, the largest airborne operation of the Second World War. The series' attention to detail, both in terms of environments and combat tactics, are as high as ever and that's reason enough for gamers to be excited. When you add in a new cover system and the chance to actually blow up small parts of Holland, things get even better. The most impressive addition to the game are the new "Brotherhood moments" that allow for more drama and personality in the battles.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

What to Expect: For those currently partaking in the Xbox 360's exclusive beta, don't read any further, because what I'm about to say won't come as a big surprise. Firing a gun in Call of Duty 4 just feels good, and that's most likely due to Infinity Wards firmly re-taking the reins to reinvigorate its franchise with a classic, fun feel. Shattering glass, screams of pain, exploding grenades, and a return to CoD2's health system, which requires wounded players to hide for a certain amount of time to regain health.... Modern Combat is and frantic, and emphasizes staying in the action at all times.

Crysis

Genre: First-person Shooter
Release Date: November 16

What to Expect: Far Cry was easily one of the best looking games of its day and the same can be said of Crytek's next project, Crysis. The game has looked better and better every time we've seen it and though the DirectX 10 effects are spectacular, the game still looks amazing even on DirectX 9. Fantastic foliage, wonderful water and lovely lighting make each level stunningly brilliant to look at. When you add in an exciting story of, rising tensions between the US and North Korea over an alien crash site and a subsequent alien invasion, it's clear to see that there's more than meets the eye in Crysis. High tech weaponry and an inventive nano-suit that allows for some interesting super powers round out the package for what looks to be one of the best shooters of the year.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars

What to Expect: Splash Damage's class-based multiplayer mod to the world of Wolfenstein was amazingly successful and now the team is turning this approach to the venerable Quake universe. Enemy Territory: Quake Wars takes the conflict between the Earth Defense Force and the alien Strogg to a new level with loads of unique classes, plenty of vehicles and tons of weapons. Team play is going to be the focus here and players will have to rely on each other to effectively take and hold bases, establish forward positions and generally lay waste to the world around them. And while it's fun enough just to see the massive alien walkers stomping all over infantry, the addition of real missions and specific objectives adds to the tactical action here.

F.E.A.R. Perserus Mandate

Genre: First-person Shooter
Release Date: November 6

What to Expect: We've already seen what the TimeGate guys could do with their first expansion pack to Monolith's abnormally scary F.E.A.R.. Now they're back to do it again with the second full expansion, F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate. Though we're still not exactly sure what this whole "Perseus" business is about, we do know that the game parallels the original Extraction Point and actually allows players to intersect the story of the first game. Without giving too much away, we can say that we expect to see Arma make a triumphant and terrifying return, this time with some brand new tricks. The addition of cool new cooperative missions means you won't have to cry alone this time.

Gears of War

What to Expect: Well, unless you've been living under a rock, you've heard about the amazing presence that Gears of War has had on the Xbox 360. As one of if not the most popular online console games of all time, Gears of War is definitely an experience not to be missed. Thankfully, this November Epic and Microsoft will make sure that PC gamers get it on the action. Built on the Unreal 3 engine, Gears tells the story of mankind's battle against the nightmarish Locust Horde. More importantly, it allows players to take on the experience in a wide variety of cooperative modes that will make it just as awesome on the PC as it was on the 360.

What to Expect: Well, the first thing you should expect is five games for the price of one. Half-Life 2: Episode Two gives players a chance to see the further adventures of the crowbar-swinging scientist Gordon Freeman. Real physics and thoughtful AI make it an experience you can't pass up. And even if the game just included the second episode of Half-Life 2, it would be worth the price of admission. But Valve goes one better by throwing in the latest version of Team Fortress 2, the puzzling Portal and a number of add-on levels for Half-Life 2.

Unreal Tournament III

What to Expect: Another alien invasion? You bet your life. This time around the interstellar baddies are the Necris and they've slaughtered your entire clan. Not being one to take this sort of thing lying down (or even seated comfortably), you've decided to take up arms and bring the fight to them. Built on the impressive Unreal 3 technology that also powers Epic's Gears of War, Unreal Tournament 3 is like a slicker, more attractive update to one of gaming's most popular online shooters. Loads of content, including dozens of maps, plenty of familiar (but oh-so-shiny) weapons, and no shortage of mulitplayer modes will make this one a worthy addition to the franchise.

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock

What to Expect: Metal, metal and more metal. Whereas Guitar Hero II turned up the shred meter, Guitar Hero III looks to break the knob off the amp. Some of the clips that we've seen so far look insanely difficult, which is good news for those who could blast through the last couple titles. Hopefully the difficulty ramp will still be smooth so that newcomers will be able to join in on the fun. The game will also feature online play for the first time in the series, allowing you to take advantage of its fun multiplayer options when no one else is around, like the new Battle Mode.

What to Expect: Combine DJs, super hot models and ridiculously tweaked cars and what do you get? More than you can find in a can of V-8, that's for sure. Some of the online features sound great, like the ability to set up your own race weekend and have your friends (or enemies) compete at their own leisure. The Need for Speed series has always been solid, and we don't expect this one to disappoint.

What to Expect: When the makers of the original Diablo announced their return to the world of action-RPGs, we sat up and took notice. A host of demons have literally brought Hell to London and since no one else seems capable of clearing up the mess, it's up to you to send them packing and set things right. The game combines a full RPG system with a traditional first-person shooter format, Hellgate has enough depth to satisfy your hardcore pen-and-paper player and enough action to keep twitch junkies happy.

What to Expect: Richard Garriott's made quite a name for himself with the long-lived Ultima series, so we're really excited to see what he and his team at Destination Games have in store for us with their upcoming massively multiplayer game Tabula Rasa. Stepping away from the traditional sword and sorcery format in favor of the traditional alien invasion format, the game will also feature a robust class system that allows players to clone characters to explore other class types. Story-based, instanced quests and large public battlefields allow players to approach the game according to their own tastes, while a number of ethical options within the quests encourage roleplayers actually play a role. What a concept!

What to Expect: This ambitious PRPG (that's Polish Roleplaying Game) is all about monster hunting and makes no apologies for it. What to Expect: We don't normally get too excited about PC sports games, and we almost never get excited about soccer games any more but the next version of Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer has managed to capture our attention. We're still holding out to find out about the licensing issues that plagued the previous versions, but Konami's demos have shown off some amazing improvements in terms of visuals and have increased our anticipation of their Teamvision features and new adaptive AI. Having a sports AI that better reacts to the way that you play will definitely raise the challenge level for players who are used to scoring free kicks and sweeping the goalie at will.

Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts

What to Expect: As awesome as Company of Heroes was, we'd have been happy with more of the same. But rather than cashing in with a simple mission pack, the gang at Relic have included two entirely new armies, two new campaigns and a number of graphical improvements. The new armies play differently; the British 2nd Army are the ultimate defensive fighters, able to create their own defensive emplacements on the fly while the German Panzer Elite are exactly the opposite, relying on rapid mechanized advances to stay on the attack. Cool new weather and time of day effects lend an air of believability to the Caen and Market-Garden campaigns. DirectX 10 support increases the game's visual appeal, but it still looks amazing even on older DX9 systems.

SimCity Societies

What to Expect: Rather than just pumping out another version of SimCity and sticking a "+ 1" at the end of it, the folks at Electronic Arts have handed the franchise over to Tilted Mill for a bit of retooling. Instead of focusing on zoning and traffic patterns, the new game uses the concept of societal energies to create an entirely new type of gameplay. Placing homes, workplaces and recreational areas for each of the game's energy types -- wealth, industry, creativity, obedience, etc. -- gives your city a unique personality and potential. Even if it's not the SimCity that we knew and loved, trying to balance the effect of energies that both compete and cooperative with each other at the same time sounds like a challenge that no SimCity fan will want to pass up.

Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance

What to Expect: Chris Taylor's never been one to do things halfway, so with the standalone expansion pack to Supreme Commander he's adding over a hundred new units, including advanced navies, orbital weapons and counter-intelligence units. Forged Alliance picks up where the original game left off, allowing players to fight in an entirely new chapter in the aftermath of the Infinite War. The new designs that we've seen for the Seraphim are incredibly slick and have made us very anxious to get our hands on them and take them for a test fight.

Universe at War: Earth Assault

What to Expect: The Petroglyph folks scored big points with us with their latest game, Forces of Corruption, so we're very excited to see what they have in store for us with Universe at War: Earth Assault. Sure, it follows the alien invasion theme that seems to have taken over this entire feature, but it stands out from the crowd by virtue of it's amazingly diverse factions with incredibly flexible units, an entirely new resource model that includes everything on the battlefield and advanced city-smashing weapons. Being able to upgrade and retrain units in the field lets players adapt to the battle on the fly, and different research paths for each of the factions means you'll never quite know what to expect once you hit the field of battle. What's not to like?

se poate doar de menţionat că cît şi UT3, atît şi ET:QW vor aveaşi Linux versiuni.
Din toate jocurile, 6 vor fi şootere :mde: ujos.
+ La asta FEAR nu va putea concura cu giganţii ăştia de tipu CRYSIS, HL2EP2, UT3 şi GoW.
Mi-a plăcut cum au ales polonezii data Witcher-ului, deoarece să-l fi fost lansat cu vreo două luni în urmă, ar fi călcat pe NWN2, Jade Empire şi nu vor prezenta interes pentru amatorii de RPG.
Nu prea cred în Earth Assault, deşi Petroglyph ştiu cum se fac strategiile. Însă nu a trecut mult timp după ultimile lor titluri, fapt care mă face să gîndesc puţin înainte de a cumpăra jocul.
SimCity-ul nou e potrivit şi orientat fanilor, iar add-on-urile pentru Company of Heroes şi Supreme Commander adaugă multă viaţă proiectelor originale.
Nu ştiu cu ce parte a corpului gîndeau "sucurile", însă nu cred că data release-ului Juiced2 e aleasă potrivit. Nici tu PR mare, ca să-l putem aştepta de mai demult, nuci tu featuri super noi. "More of the same"? Vom vedea.
Ce e într-adevăr "more of the same" (sau cel puţin promite a fi) este noul PES, orientat amatorilor.Cauza principală - noul release, deşi nu va aduce nimic super nou, va ridica puţin hardware-ul minim, pe cînd grafica rămîne la nivel de PES2005.
Şi Konami ştiu că PES SEED TEAM vor lua jocul cu plăcere
