Ronaldo Could Have Gone Anywhere But Madrid Cristiano Ronaldo was told by Sir Alex Ferguson that he could join any club in the world this summer, including Barcelona, as long as he did not go to Real Madrid. The pledge was made when the pair met in Lisbon last month after the Manchester United manager flew out to convince the star that he should not go to the Bernabéu. Barcelona had made tentative enquiries about Ronaldo earlier in the season and, according to Marca, Ferguson said that he could go there for half the money that the media were stating Madrid would pay. It was a clear indication of how bad relations between Los Merengues and the Red Devils had become after the Premier League giants accused the Spanish outfit of tapping up the player. Ronaldo only had eyes for Madrid, however, and told Ferguson that if he would not be allowed to join them then he would be willing stay at Old Trafford, albeit for just one more season. Marca also state that the 23-year-old has told friends in the Madrid team that if he is not allowed to join for the 2009-10 campaign then he will force through a transfer himself. Silva Has 'No Desire' For Premier League Switch Spanish attacker David Silva has quelled speculation linking him with a move to the Premier League by stating that he has ‘no desire’ to move away from La Liga. Silva has been one of the most sought after commodities in this transfer window, with clubs such as AS Roma, Manchester United, Liverpool and Barcelona all tentatively linked with a move for the Valencia winger. His club have recently stated that he will not be departing, and the 22-year-old added that he is definitely not leaving Spain. The Gran Canaria-born forward has made it clear that he would only leave to join Barça, and insists that any transfer away from Los Ches will not be financially motivated. Last summer, Silva signed a seven-year deal with Valencia. Prices as high as €25million have been touted for any deal involving the player, as Valencia keep one eye on their precarious financial situation. Both Silva and fellow European champion David Villa have been suggested as assets to be cashed in to alleviate pressure at the Mestalla. Of the issue, Silva told the Daily Star: "I have no desire to play in England. My club know my decision and it will not change. "If I leave Valencia, my dream will be to go to Barcelona.
